Seguin, TX : Pearland woman killed in crash with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 10 early Thursday morning, January 5, 2017

A Pearland woman was killed in a collision with an 18-wheeler early Thursday morning.

The accident happened just after midnight on Interstate 10 near the 614 mile marker when a 2008 Dodge Charger hit the back of a disabled tractor-trailer, Seguin Police Traffic Officer Willie Ybarra said.

The driver of the car, identified as 27-year-old Jennifer Ann Harrell, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Darrell Hunter, Ybarra said. The family has been notified, he said.

Preliminary reports show Harrell was traveling west on IH10 and for an unknown reason lost control of the car, Ybarra said.

The driver of the 18-wheeler reported being stopped on the side of the highway since about 6:30 p.m., Ybarra said.
“Texas Towing out of San Antonio came out to tow it,” he said. “They had hooked everything up, but were standing outside of the vehicle talking out some of the minor details of moving the truck, and that’s when the accident occurred.”

No one else was in the car with Harrell, and no other injuries were reported.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
“We don’t know what happened for sure or what caused her to lose control. That’s what we’re hoping to find out,” Ybarra said.
