A 22-year-old woman is dead after an early-morning crash Friday on I-4 near Fairbanks Avenue, in Orlando.
The crash happened around 2:40 a.m. on the westbound side of the interstate. All westbound lanes were shut down for about three hours as the Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
According to FHP, 22-year-old Ashleigh Maria Plazas, of Orlando, was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on I-4, when for she drove into the inside lane and the car struck the concrete barrier wall. The car then hit a guardrail, overturned twice and fell into an embankment.
Plazas was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. According to FHP's report on the crash, she was not wearing a seat belt.
Two other women in the car — Kristen Michele Bartus, 22, of Orlando; and Skyler Morgan Stout, 21, of Apopka — suffered minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
