TOWN OF BERLIN, VT : 1 dead, 2 injured in two-vehicle crash on April, Thursday 6th 2017
One person is dead and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in northwestern Marathon County.
A medical helicopter was called for one of the injured; the other was taken from the scene by ambulance. One person was dead at the scene of the crash near the intersection of County O and County F, said Marathon County Sheriff's Lt. Fred Goch.
The call came at 3:24 p.m. reporting a crash in the rural area near the village of Athens. The crash was a collision between a red car and a black pickup truck. At the scene Thursday afternoon, the car was overturned in the front yard of one of the several houses on the rural stretch of road in the town of Berlin.A crash reconstruction team was called to the site to investigate. Police did not immediately release details about the cause of the crash or the direction of travel by either vehicle. The identities of those involved will likely be released Friday, Goch said. The condition of either person taken to the hospital was not available Thursday evening.
As of April 2, there had been 102 traffic deaths in Wisconsin so far in 2017, according to the state Department of Transportation.
