Micanopy, FL : One man killed and two injured in crash on Interstate 75 near Micanopy Monday September 28, 2015
Three men from Spring Hill were ejected from their car after hitting a tree on Interstate 75 near Micanopy Monday night — an accident that left one man dead and another critically injured, authorities reported. The third man suffered serious injuries.
Rodney P. Amos, 32, was pronounced dead on scene, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. Only one car was involved in the accident, which occurred around 8:44 p.m. at Mile Marker 375.
David Paul Boehmer, 28, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital with serious injuries, and Clayton Hood, 31, was taken to the same hospital with critical injuries, according to FHP.
The vehicle, a Chevy, was traveling south on I-75 just north of County Road 234, the news release said. It isn't yet known where the three men were seated in the car or who was driving.
The driver lost control and the car spun counterclockwise, the news release said. It went off the road and onto the left paved shoulder of the interstate.
The car then went into the grassy median, where the Chevy's right front hit a tree, FHP reported. After that, the car began “a violent and uncontrolled clockwise rotation” and all three were ejected.
