Visalia, CA : Cyclist killed when he drifted into a travel lane and was struck by a pickup in Central California on Monday, April 4, 2016
A cyclist was killed when he drifted into a travel lane and was struck by a pickup in Central California.
The Fresno Bee reports that 92-year-old Robert Seymour of Visalia was bicycling when he collided with a pickup truck driven by 91-year-old John Havekost, also of Visalia.
Havekost was heading north pulling a 26-foot trailer. He pulled over when his passenger said he thought a bicyclist might have hit the trailer. He was not injured.
A Visalia homeowner heard the crash from his backyard and found Seymour on the ground at the entry to his driveway. He performed CPR until police arrived. Seymour was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Sgt. Damon Maurice says Seymour was wearing a helmet and there is no indication that alcohol was involved.
The crash is still being investigated.
