Jefferson, WI : 88-year-old man struck and killed while crossing a street in Jefferson on Monday morning, March 21, 2016

Chief Kenneth Pileggi, from the Jefferson Police Department, tells 27 News an elderly man was struck and killed shortly after 7:30 Monday morning.

Chief Pileggi says the 88-year-old man goes walking every morning and it appears he was attempting to cross Dane Street, which is also Highway N, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. That vehicle was driven by a 61-year-old man who immediately stopped and has been cooperating with authorities.

The victim died at the scene. Names are not being released at this time, pending notification of family.
