Port Orange, FL : Bicyclist, 31, killed in Volusia County crash on Friday, January 9, 2015

A 31-year-old Port Orange man was killed Friday night when he was hit by a vehicle, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Jonathan Hines was on his bicycle crossing U.S. 1 on Harbor Road around 10 p.m. when he traveled into the path of a Jeep Liberty, which was heading northbound on U.S. 1, FHP said.

Hines was struck and thrown from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 55-year-old Port Orange woman, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
