Parker, SD : 55-year-old Cynthia Dornbusch died after being struck by truck clearing snow in restaurant parking lot on Wednesday evening, December 16, 2015
A Parker woman died of her injuries after she was struck by a truck in a restaurant parking lot on Wednesday evening.
Cynthia Dornbusch, 55, was in the parking lot of the Parker House Steakhouse and Lounge at around 5:15 p.m. when she was hit by a truck clearing away snow, Turner County sheriff Byron Nogelmeier said.
"He (the truck driver) did not see the victim and struck her," Nogelmeier said.
Dornbusch was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital, where she died of her injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 33-year-old Parker man, has not been charged with anything in relation to the death, Nogelmeier said.
A memorial service will be held for Dornbusch on Sunday at 1 p.m. at St. Christina's Catholic Church in Parker.
Originally from Ortonville, Minn., Dornbusch studied fashion merchandising in Moorhead, Minn. and worked in several boutiques in the Minneapolis and Fargo/Moorhead areas, according to her obituary. She later moved to Parker, where she has owned and managed the Parker House Steakhouse and Lounge for the past 20 years.
Dornbusch enjoyed gardening, motorcycles, golfing, going to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and watching the Minnesota Vikings.
Dornbusch's ex-husband, Jess Dornbusch, said she was loyal to her friends and enjoyed making others feel special.
"She would always make sure you had something to eat, and she'd take care of you," he said.
Cyn, as she was known to her friends, was devoted to her job and put extra effort into decorating the steakhouse for Christmas, Dornbusch said. He talked about a time when Cyn shattered her leg. She strapped saddlebags to her crutches and went back to work a week later, her leg still shattered.
"She worked hard every day of her life and she wasn't a quitter," Jess said.
Cyn valued her family and friends as much as her work.
"She was loved by everyone who knew her, especially her nieces and nephews," her obituary read. "She will always be remembered as the life of the party."
