Two people, including a Homedale woman, died after an accident on Interstate 84 involving a wrong-way driver, according to Oregon State Police.

Shane R. Ware, 48, of Hermiston, Oregon was driving a 1999 Saturn SL west in the eastbound lanes on I-84. First, near mile marker 217, he reportedly forced Sherry Marie Anderson, 24, of Rainier, Oregon, driving east in a 1998 Saturn SL, off the road, according to OSP.

Anderson suffered injuries that OSP stated were not life-threatening, but she was transported to the hospital.

Ware reportedly continued to drive west on the eastbound lanes and then, around mile marker 214, crashed head-on into a 2001 Chevrolet Venture, driven by Mary A. Padilla, 47, of Homedale, according to OSP.

Ware and Padilla both died in the crash. A 10-year-old child riding with Padilla suffered injuries OSP says were not life-threatening and was transported to the hospital.
