Vantage,WA : 11 people was injured in 25 vehicle crash in Interstate 90 crash happened just before 11 a.m. July 17th 2014.
Eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 near milepost 115 near Kittitas are closed until Friday after a 25-vehicle crash pileup and poor visibility due to the wildfires. The Washington state Patrol says 15 cars and nine tractor-trailers crashed in the Interstate 90 pile up Thursday morning, leaving 11 people injured. Wind gusts were kicking up dust left by a brush fire that burned in the area Tuesday, said DOT spokeswoman Meagan Lott.
Trooper Darren Wright says the pile up happened just before 11 a.m. near Vantage. He says there are serious injuries among the 11 people hurt.
The pileup snarled traffic on the main route across Washington state. While crews clean up and troopers investigate, eastbound I-90 has been closed at mile post 116. Traffic is being detoured through the town of Kittitas to the Old Vantage Highway.
Westbound traffic was closed temporarily and has since re-opened.There was no estimate on what time the stretch would reopen Friday."It's depending on conditions," Wright said. "We want everybody to be safe."
