Woods County, OK : Freedom man injured in crash on U.S. 64 in Woods County on Wednesday, December 31, 2014
A Freedom man was hurt overnight in a vehicle accident, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Eric Smith, 46, was flown by helicopter to OU Medical Center with head, internal and external injuries.
An OHP investigator said Smith's 2003 Ford Taurus was westbound on U.S. 64 in Woods County when his car left the road. The car went airborne and struck the ground on the west side of County Road 200.
It then rolled end over end, coming to rest on its wheels, the report notes. The crash happened at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the OHP, Smith was not wearing his seatbelt. The trooper said there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage at the scene.
Assisting at the scene was Freedom Fire and first responders, Woods County Sheriff's Office, Alva Fire and Woodward EMS.
