Columbus County, NC : One person dead and another injured in a single-vehicle crash on Friday January 29 2016

One person is dead and another was taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle wreck in Columbus County Friday afternoon.
According to Linwood Cartrette, coroner for Columbus County, the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on US 74 in the Evergreen community.
Cartrette said the vehicle lost control and went off the road, landing upside down at the bottom of an embankment. The car was partially submerged in water following the accident.
A woman died at the scene and a man was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Cartrette says.
