Nelson Twp, OH : 35-year-old Ginger L. Scheel died in car crash on State Route 305 in Portage County on Wednesday, Sep 2, 2015

The Ravenna Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that left one woman dead Wednesday.

The accident happened at approximately 3:11 p.m. on State Route 305.

According to authorities, 27-year-old Michael D. Sweet, of Kent, was traveling westbound when he crossed the center line, overcorrected and traveled off the right side of the road. His Chevrolet Aveo struck a utility pole before stopping against a tree.

His passenger, 35-year-old Ginger L. Scheel, also of Kent, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sweet suffered minor injuries and was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital.

They were both wearing seat belts. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
