Multi-vehicle collision injures at least 2 near Santa Maria California

A California Highway Patrol officer’s pursuit of a reckless driver on Highway 101 ended in a multi-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon on North Broadway at Donovan Road, according to CHP dispatch reports.

The incident began about 3:15 p.m. when the CHP received a report of a driver passing in the center divider and driving recklessly on Highway 101.With a CHP officer beginning to pursue the vehicle on Highway 101 near the Santa Maria Speedway, the driver exited Highway 101 at Broadway and crashed while on the off-ramp, but continued traveling.A short time later a major collision occurred, involving at least four vehicles, on North Broadway south of Donovan Road.Santa Maria police assisted with traffic control, the CHP said.

One person, whose name wasn’t available, was arrested, according to the CHP.At least two people were injured but the extent of injuries wasn’t known yet Sunday evening.
