Ponchatola, LA : 31-year-old Danielle Marie Kulick died a head-on crash on Highway 22 near the Tangipahoa River Bridge on Monday, Sep 21, 2015

Louisiana State Police are investigating a head-on crash that claimed the life of a Ponchatoula woman. The incident occurred Monday at 9:30 a.m. on Highway 22 near the Tangipahoa River Bridge, in Ponchatoula. The deceased victim has been identified as 31-year-old Danielle Marie Kulick.

Police say that Kulick was driving a car east on Highway 22 when, for unknown reasons, her car veered over the center line and entered the westbound lane. Her car struck a van truck, driven by 48-year-old Kevin Wayne Pete of Darrow, head-on.

According to police, Kulick was not properly restrained and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's Office. Pete, who was properly restrained, was taken to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond to receive treatment for minor injuries.

Investigators do not believe that impairment played a factor in the crash. Blood samples were taken from both drivers and will be analyzed at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
