Simpson County, MS : 65-year-old Jerry Owens died in a vehicle accident on MS 13 near Shivers Road on Saturday, May 21, 2016

MHP Corporal Eric Henry says one man was killed in Simpson County Saturday in a vehicle accident.

Henry has identified the driver as 65-year-old Jerry Owens of Magee.

Corporal Henry says authorities received the call at 4:50 p.m. about the deadly one-vehicle accident.

He says the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Owens was driving, was traveling south on MS 13 near Shivers Road when it ran off roadway and struck a tree, killing him.

The accident is under investigation.
