Authorities say a man is dead after the pickup truck he was driving hit a guardrail and flipped over several times in central New York.

Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputy Kathleen Kruger says the crash happened on Interstate 81 near around 8 p.m. on Sunday near Nedrow, just south of Syracuse.

Investigators say the man was partially ejected from the vehicle and firefighters had to free him from the truck. The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities didn't immediately release the victim's name.

The crash is under investigation.
