York, PA : Man killed in Spring Garden crash on Monday night, April 3, 2017
Walter Spangler, 77, of North Codorus Township, was killed on Monday night after his pickup was struck in Spring Garden Township, according to York County Coroner Pam Gay.
At about 5:55 p.m., Spangler was traveling on Lancaster Avenue when another vehicle, traveling on Edgecomb Avenue, hit his truck, according to the coroner. The impact caused Spangler's pickup to roll three times, landing on its roof, before hitting an unoccupied truck parked nearby, Gay stated.
The driver of the striking vehicle did not require medical attention.
Spangler was pronounced dead at the scene. He died of blunt force trauma to the neck, according to a news release. The manner of death is accidental.
Spangler's family has been notified, and the Spring Garden Police Department is investigating the incident.
