Newton, MA : Bus hangs over Massachusetts Pike after crash on May 18th 2014
Authorities say eight people have been injured after a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority bus crashed through a guardrail over the Massachusetts Pike.
Kelly Smith of the MBTA says the crash happened at about 7:45 a.m. Sunday in Newton. She says 11 people were on the bus, and eight of them were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including the operator.
State police say the bus is partially hanging over the Massachusetts Pike, but the Newton Fire Department has secured it.
Smith says crews are on the scene to help remove the bus. She says the cause of the crash is under investigation.
State police say the right lane on Interstate 90 has been closed because of falling debris. The Exit 17 on-ramp is also closed.
