Gary,IN : Man, 28, dies after single-vehicle wreck near Chicago Ridge Mall on November, Sunday 26th 2017

Mount Greenwood man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 294 early Sunday has been identified, officials said.

David Mahay, 28, of the 10500 block of South Central Park Avenue, was pronounced dead at 8:06 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

About 6:40 a.m., Illinois State Police from District 15 responded to a report of the crash on I-294 north in Worth, a state police representative said Sunday. Troopers found a single occupant with serious injuries and he was rushed to nearby Advocate Christ Medical Center, officials said. He was later was pronounced dead, the state police spokesman said.

The single-vehicle crash, south of Chicago Ridge Mall, remains under investigation, officials said. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, but the vehicle “struck a concrete barrier” the spokesman said.

The make and model of the vehicle were not immediately available, he said. Additional details about possible contributing factors in the crash were not immediately released.
