Wytheville, VA : One dead in Giles County crash on Thursday night, April 6, 2017

The Virginia State Police identified a person Friday who died Thursday night after a single-vehicle crash in Giles County. Va.

Virginia State Police Senior Trooper J.L. Thompson is investigating thesingle-vehicle crash in Giles County, Corinne N. Geller, public relations director for the state police said. The crash occurred 8:25 p.m. Thursday on Route 460 approximately 400 feet east of Hollow Road.

A 2011 Mazda 3 was traveling along Route 460 when it ran off the left side of the road, struck a concrete drain and overturned. The Mazda’s driver, Jason W. Hare, 36, of Pembroke, Va., was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, Geller said. Hare died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
