Marion, SC : Man walking on highway struck and killed by 18-wheeler in Marion County on Friday, July 4, 2014

Troopers say a 32-year-old man has been killed after he was struck by an 18-wheeler while walking on a Marion County highway.

Authorities said Tyrone Simmons of Mullins was walking south around 11:30 p.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 501 north of Marion when he was hit from behind by the tractor trailer.

Investigators say the driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

Troopers say the incident is under investigation.
