Cedar City, UT : Nevada man dies in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 15 in southwestern Utah on Monday afternoon, September 12, 2016

The Utah Highway Patrol has identified a Nevada man who died in a motorcycle accident Monday afternoon on Interstate 15 in southwestern Utah.

Troopers say that 70-year-old Barry R. Whitaker, of Montella, Nev., was riding north about 1:20 p.m. when he lost control of his bike while changing from the outside to inside lanes about 15 miles southwest of Cedar City.

His bike fishtailed into the median and flipped, throwing Whitaker to the ground. Though wearing a helmet he suffered fatal injuries, dying at the scene.

UHP was investigating whether an unspecified, existing medical condition may have contributed to the accident. An autopsy was being done by the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office.
