Houston, TX : Man died when his pickup slammed in the side of a big-rig in northeast Harris County early Friday morning, May 13, 2016

Deputies are investigating a crash that killed a pickup driver in far northeast Harris County early Friday.

Around 1:30 a.m. an 18-wheeler driver stopped his rig on Green River at Mayhaw, blocking the roadway so he could shut a business gate. The oncoming pickup truck driver apparently could not see the 18-wheeler’s trailer, and he slammed into the side of it.

The pickup driver, who is reportedly the father of a sheriff’s deputy, died at the scene.

Deputies say speed was a factor in the crash, but investigators were also looking into the 18-wheeler operator for blocking the road.

No charges or citations were immediately filed in the case.
