Vernon, CT : Man seriously injured when he struck by a car just outside Hartford on Tuesday, January 19, 2016

Police say a man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car just outside Hartford.

Police were dispatched to the accident scene on Reservoir Road in Vernon around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Arriving officers found the victim unresponsive in the area near Sunrise Drive.

The man, who wasn't identified, was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital. He remains in critical condition.

Police say the driver who struck the victim stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Reservoir Road was shut down between state Route 30 and Interstate 84 while police investigated the crash. It has since been reopened.
