Pickens County, S.C : Three people killed, 3 seriously injured in head-on crash near Table Rock State Park on Sunday afternoon, May 8, 2016
Three people were killed and three others were injured Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision on Highway 11 at West Gate Road near Table Rock State Park, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said the call came in just after 2 p.m.
Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley and troopers said a 25-year-old and two children, ages 9 and 14, were in a 1999 Honda Civic heading south on state Highway 11 when an SUV crossed the center line and hit their car head-on.
The occupants in the Civic, who were all wearing seat belts and were entrapped in the car, died at the scene, troopers said.
Troopers said a 16-year-old was driving the other vehicle, a 2011 Honda Pilot, north on Highway 11 with two 13-year-old passengers. All three, who were all wearing seat belts, received serious injuries and were taken to Greenville Memorial hospital, troopers said.
Holly Springs and Vineyard fire departments were called to the scene to help assist, officials said.
The coroner said the victims' names will be released Monday.
