Salem, OR : 17-year-old Silverton girl dies after crashing into a tree near Salem on Sunday, July 13, 2014
A 17-year-old Silverton girl died Monday after a single-car accident on Sunday.
Brittany Perry died after being taken to Salem Hospital. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office didn’t update the condition of her passenger, who they said on Sunday was seriously injured.
Deputies were called to Hazelgreen Rd. about five miles east of Salem just before 6 a.m. Sunday, and found Perry’s car had crashed into a tree along the road.
Deputies determined that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
Her friends said they think she may have simply fallen asleep at the wheel. They left candles and a makeshift memorial in her honor at the crash site.
They described Brittany as fiercely devoted to her family, a loyal friend and someone who had big plans. She was going to be a senior at Silverton High School next year and just found out that she had earned a full ride scholarship to follow her dream of becoming a pediatric surgeon.
