Polk County, FL : Aldrich's wife, 68-year-old Susan Aldrich dead and 70-year-old Roy Aldrich in serious condition after crash involving a Polk County deputy's patrol car in Davenport on Wednesday night, April 1, 2015
Investigators are trying to figure out what led to a deadly crash involving a Polk County deputy Wednesday night.
The cruiser and another car collided at Ronald Reagan Parkway and Lake Wilson Road in Davenport around 6 p.m.
The driver of the car, 70-year-old Roy Aldrich, was driving a 2002 blue Chrysler PT Cruiser. He was airlifted to Lake Regional Health Center in serious condition.
Aldrich's wife, 68-year-old Susan Aldrich, was also in the car, and died at the scene, deputies said.
The deputy, 29-year-old Shastri Khan, was treated for minor injuries and released from Florida Hospital. He has been a deputy sheriff since 2008.
nvestigators said the deputy didn't have lights or sirens on at the time of the crash.
