Gilchrist County, FL : Lake City man killed in Gilchrist County traffic crash on Friday morning, October 31, 2014
Lake City resident James Mark Kite was identified as the man killed Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Gilchrist County.
Kite, 52, was a passenger in a 1995 Ford F-150 driven by Robert Lamar Moulton, also 52, of Lake City, on State Road 47 when it struck a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Henry Frank Coker, of Old Town, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
FHP troopers determined the 22-year-old Coker was traveling on County Road 232 at about 8:50 a.m. and failed to stop at a stop sign at SR 47. His truck collided with the Ford, the report stated.
The impact with the Ford sent the Chevrolet tumbling and sent both vehicles into a ditch, the report stated.
Kite was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics took Coker and Moulton to nearby hospitals with serious injuries, the report stated.
The roadway remained partially closed as of Friday afternoon.
