Palestine, TX : Two women injured in I-45 crash on Sunday, January 29, 2017
A crash backed up the southbound lane of Interstate Highway 45 around noon Sunday south of NW CR 0020 near the 235 mile marker. Two women were injured.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety Media Communication Staff Sgt. Sarah Warren, a maroon 2007 Ford Fusion was traveling south on I-45 and struck the cement center barrier causing it to deflect across both lanes and strike the guardrail on the right side of the road.
The Fusion came to rest in the right lane, blocking traffic. As traffic began to slow down, a motorcycle attempted to brake, lost control and the driver was ejected.
The driver of the Fusion, 19-year-old Mariah Castillo of Palestine, and the back passenger, 20-year-old Adrianna Deleon of Palestine, were not injured. The front passenger of the Fusion, 21-year-old Brianne Castillo of Palestine, did suffer non-life-threatening injuries. Castillo was taken to the Navarro Regional Hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the motorcycle, 46-year-old Johnetta Jackson of Houston, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Jackson was transported to Navarro Regional Hospital.
The investigation is still on-going, and there is no other information available at this time.
