Paulding County, GA : Fort Wayne man dies in crash on State Route 500 east of County Road 87 on Sunday, 25th August 2019

A Fort Wayne man was killed in a crash in Paulding County on Sunday.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated the fatal crash, which happened on State Route 500 east of County Road 87 at 12:35 p.m.

According to a news release, 29-year-old Brandon Smith of Paulding was driving a 1998 Corvette west on State Route 500 at a high rate of speed. Smith failed to negotiate a curve and overturned the car several times before coming to rest in a field.

Aaron Crutchfield, 38, of Fort Wayne, was sitting in the front seat passenger's side and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release. Smith was taken to Paulding County Hospital and later flown to Parkview.

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
