Two separate crashes Friday afternoon in St. Lucie County left people injured, said Fire District officials.

The first crash involved two vehicles in the 1600 block of North 23rd Street about 3:30 p.m. Friday, said Brenda Stokes, executive aide for the Fire District. A girl and a woman from the same vehicle were flown to a local hospital with traumatic injuries.

The second crash involved a motorcycle and a vehicle at U.S. 1 and Turnpike Feeder Road about 4:10 p.m., Stokes said. The motorcycle caught fire, she said, but firefighters put it out. The extent of injuries in that crash were unknown.

Southbound U.S. 1 at Turnpike Feeder Road closed after the crash, said sheriff's officials. It reopened about 6 p.m., according to the Sheriff's Office.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the second crash, officials said.

No further information was available late Friday.
