Highgate, VT : Sheldon man dies in ATV crash on a trail off Pine Plains Road on Wednesday, May 11, 2016

Vermont State Police say a Sheldon man is dead following an ATV crash in the town of Highgate.

Investigators said Timothy Vachon Sr., 45, died Wednesday after a crash on a trail off Pine Plains Road.

Vachon was not wearing a helmet.

A juvenile reported the crash about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday after walking out of the woods and alerting a homeowner that the juvenile's father had been involved in a serious ATV crash and was injured.

Sheldon and Highgate fire departments responded to the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
