A young girl is in the hospital on Sunday night after being hit by a car on John May Drive near Western Avenue.

Family members tell Local8News 6-year-old Zyra Savy was hit by a car around 7:30 Sunday evening. They say she was crossing the street with a friend to go to a neighbor's house when she was hit. Family members say they took her to a nearby fire station. Rural Metro took the girl to UT Medical Center where family members say she's in the ICU.

"My little sister was about to cross the road and a dude comes speeding around the corner and hit her," says her brother, James Watson.

"She came running across the road and the car hit her and the car didn't stop until they were right there and I was standing right beside her. She rolled across the road and then stopped," says Breanna Nelson, a friend of Savy.

Local8News did speak with Savy's father over the phone. He says he wants police to investigate further. He says people are always speeding on that road.
