CAIRO, MO : Monroe County teen injured in one-vehicle crash in Randolph County on Monday, 23rd July 2018

A Monroe County teen suffered minor injuries in a Sunday morning crash just outside of Cairo in Randolph County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Morgan D. Cockrell, 17, of Marceline, Mo., was driving his 1999 Dodge 2500 southbound on U.S. 63 1.5 miles south of Cairo when at 7 a.m. he drove off the left side of the road, struck a sign and the median, crossed over the northbound lanes and his vehicle came to rest on its wheels on the east side of the road.

The Highway Patrol said in its report that Cockrell, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries but refused treatment at the scene. Marlee E. Slater, 17, of Madison, a passenger in the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. She was taken by Randolph County Ambulance to Moberly Regional Hospital in Moberly, Mo., for treatment.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Department and Cairo Volunteer Fire Department assisted the Highway Patrol.
