Wilmington, DE : A 30-year-old woman was killed in a single-car crash on Wednesday, January, 10th 2018
A 30-year-old woman was killed in a single-car crash Wednesday in the 3000 block of Red Lion Road, near Red Lion.
Phoenicia M. Pugh was driving a 2010 Mini Cooper on Del. 71 approaching Summit Pointe Circle at 4:05 a.m. when she failed to maneuver through a curve properly, said Master Cpl. Michael Austin of the Delaware State Police. Her car crossed the double line and struck multiple signs and a tree before coming to a standstill off the south edge of the roadway.
Police were on the scene by 6 a.m., and traffic was restricted to a single lane in the area of Summit Pointe Circle, near the entrance to Summit North Marina.
Speed appears to have been a contributing factor in the crash, Austin said. It is undetermined whether impairment was a factor.
The investigation is ongoing, Austin said, and anyone with information can contact Cpl. J. Forester of the Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit at (302) 365-8485 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333 and online
