SUMMERVILLE, SC : Power restored after crash involving utility pole, roadway reopened on Monday, 17th June 2019
Summerville, South Carolina
Power to more than 200 electric customers in Summerville has been restored after a collision involving a utility pole shut down a roadway.
The crash happened at approximately 4 a.m. Monday morning on Carolina Avenue near Tupper Lane, according Summerville Police Sgt. Chris Hirsch.
Dominion Energy reported an outage affecting 229 people in that area. Power was restored to all customers at approximately 8:43 a.m., Dominion Energy spokesman Paul Fischer said.
The initial investigation indicates a vehicle ran off the roadway and the driver over-corrected causing the vehicle to flip over and hit a power pole, Hirsch said. That caused traffic lights to malfunction.
When police arrived on the scene, the driver was gone, Hirsch said.
