Bowling Green, KY : Beaver Dam man dies after Interstate 65 crash in Warren County on Wednesday, October 12, 2016
A Beaver Dam man died Wednesday following a crash on Interstate 65 in Warren County.
The Kentucky State Police Post 3 in Bowling Green responded to a single-vehicle injury crash at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday at the 26-mile marker in Warren County.
Police said Wendall Scott, 59, was southbound in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala when he veered off the road and struck the center concrete barrier wall.
Scott was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green, where he was later pronounced dead. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
The investigation is being led by Trooper Shae Foley.
Deputy Warren Couny Coroner Dwayne Lawrence said Scott's body was sent to Louisville for an autopsy.
"There was not a lot of medical history there," Lawrence said. "So we are waiting on the autopsy results."
Arrest — A broken tail light led a Logan County sheriff's deputy to pull over a Franklin man who ultimately was charged with drug-related offenses.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday on Sportsman Club Road, Deputy Jarrod Lyons pulled over a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina because of the broken passenger-side tail light.
The driver was 21-year-old Zachery D. Goostree of Franklin, who deputies described as "extremely nervous." With him were two females and a child in a car seat. Lyons asked for the assistance of the Russellville Police Department and its canine Jaxx, who "exhibited a positive alert on the vehicle, detecting the odor of illegal drugs," according to a news release. A search turned up numerous illegal drugs and items of illegal drug paraphernalia, including three used syringes.
Goosetree was taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Detention Center, charged with having no operator's license, failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (opiates) and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lyons was assisted by Deputy Sgt. Clint Wright and RPD officers Chris Bellar, Greg Bellar and canine Jaxx.
