Hartford, CT : New York motorcyclist critically injured after colliding with car on Hillside Avenue in Hartford, Sunday, Aug 9, 2015

Police say a motorcyclist was seriously injured after a collision in Hartford.

It happened at around 2 p.m. Sunday on Hillside Avenue. Police say 27-year-old Jamil Gomez Matos, of Brooklyn, New York, collided with a car as it was turning left onto Bonner Street.

Police say he was thrown a significant distance from the crash. He was not wearing a helmet.

Both men were taken to Hartford Hospital. Police say Matos is in critical condition and the driver, 25-year-old William Santiago-Melendez of Hartford, sustained a minor injury.

The incident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
