Jacksonville, FL : 26-year-old man died after car skids off road, hitting pole on the Westside on Sunday morning, Nov 8, 2015

A man is dead and a passenger in the car is recovering after an early morning crash on the Westside on November 8th.

The traffic crash happened at 3:22 a.m. in the 7200 block of Old Middleburg Road.

A vehicle was traveling south in the 7200 block of Old Middleburg Road when it failed to negotiate a left hand curve.

The vehicle slid off the road into a drainage ditch.

The impact caused the vehicle to roll and strike a utility pole.

The driver of that car, 26-year-old, Virgilio Milay Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Milay Jr. was not wearing a seat belt.

The passenger of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The passenger was wearing a seat belt.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating.
