Clovis, CA : Two Fresno motorcycle officers hurt in collision with truck on Tuesday, 20th March 2018
Two Fresno police motorcycle officers were injured when they collided with a pickup truck on rain-slick streets in central Fresno Tuesday.The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of North Fresno Street and East Lewis Avenue.
Capt. Mike Reid said the two officers, Brian Chadwick and Stephen Craig, were traveling northbound on Fresno when the driver of a Nissan Titan, identified as 47-year-old Arturo Gutierrez, turned left and in front of the police on the southeast corner of the intersection.
Chadwick, a 13-year-veteran of the department, received a severe gash to his right knee and facial injuries. Craig, a 17-year vet, received facial injuries, a broken radius bone in his left arm and was experiencing lower abdominal pain.
Both were transported to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center, in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
Gutierrez was not injured and was cooperating with investigators, Fresno police said.
The department's Collision Reconstruction Unit was on scene and interviewing witnesses.
