MACOMB, IL : Driver dies in one-car crash on Ill. 94, about a half-mile north of McDonough County Road 2800 on Sunday, 22nd December, 2019

A 19-year-old Carthage resident was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-car crash Sunday afternoon on Ill. 94, about a half-mile north of McDonough County Road 2800.

Jacob M. Huls was pronounced dead at the scene, according to information supplied by the Illinois State Police.

The ISP indicated a 2002 Mercury Cougar driven by Huls was northbound about 1 p.m. on Ill. 94. A vehicle in front of Huls' car slowed down to avoid a collision with a vehicle pulling out of a driveway. Huls swerved left to avoid contact, left the road, struck the ditch on the west side of the highway and rolled over into a field.

Both Hulls and passenger Cory M. Squier, 20, of LaHarpe, Ill., were ejected from the Mercury Cougar. Squier was transported to Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa, with non-life threatening injuries.
