The driver and two passengers, who are also minors, were speeding when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car jumped onto the curb, plowed into two pedestrians and then crashed into a pole.

Two people were transported to a hospital as trauma patients, but none of the injuries are considered life threatening.

As for why the driver was inebriated before 11 a.m.?

“They’re juveniles, right, it’s summertime,” Bertagna said. “Why they would be drinking is beyond me, and why they would be drinking and driving is even a bigger question.”

The police plan to visit the hospital Thursday afternoon and reunite the teens with their parents, Bertagna said.
