Bellaire, MI : Two dead in fiery car crash near Town Hall Road on Thursday, January 5, 2017

A single-car accident in the Stanton area claimed the lives of two people just before midnight Thursday.

A car heading east on Evergreen Road near Town Hall Road left the roadway and crashed into a tree, according to a media release from the Lakeview State Police Post.

The car caught fire and was quickly engulfed in flames, according to the release.

Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the driver and passenger, both pronounced dead at the scene.

State police were assisted by Evergreen Township Fire Department and Montcalm County EMS.

The accident is still under investigation.
