ESSEX COUNTY, VA : 2 injured, bridge damaged in crash involving tractor-trailer on Tuesday, 9th April 2024

Two men have been hospitalized after a tractor-trailer and medical transport van crash in Essex County.

At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on westbound Route 360 in Essex. The crash caused significant damage to the bridge that crosses Piscataway Creek.

A 2012 Dodge medical transport van was stopped in the roadway because a tree had fallen across both the east and westbound lanes of Route 360. A 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer rear-ended the van, coming to rest in a jack-knife position, causing significant damage to the bridge and the medical transport van.

The driver of the transport van, a 55-year-old man from Henrico, was taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
