OWATONNA, MN : One person was injured in a crash on Wednesday, June 21, 2017
One person was injured in a crash Wednesday morning at the corner of Elm Avenue and School Street.
Owatonna Police Sgt. Tracey DuChene said that about 9:55 a.m., a pickup driven by Hannah Johnson, 39, of Owatonna was driving north on Elm when she struck a delivery truck driven by Noah Kohlmeyer, 19, of Chatfield. Johnson, who had the right-of-way, was extracted from her vehicle by the Owatonna Fire Department and transported to Owatonna Hospital with what Duchene said were minor injuries. Two children riding in her vehicle were not harmed.
Kohlmeyer told police he believes he stopped at the stop sign and didn’t see the pickup approaching, which he blamed on a tree obstructing his vision. Officers investigating report the tree did not appear to obstruct vision for vehicles entering the intersection. Kohlmeyer was cited for failure to yield right of way.
Gold Cross Ambulance and the Owatonna Fire Department assisted at the scene, and the Minnesota State Patrol conducted a commercial vehicle inspection of Kohlmeyer’s vehicle.
