Anchorage, AK : Police investigate fatal car accident in Midtown Anchorage on Sunday, 25th March 2018
A woman was killed in a car crash after driving an SUV "at a high rate of speed" down Tudor Road on Sunday night, according to Anchorage Police.
Police responded to reports of a crash at Seward and Tudor at about 8:13 p.m. on Sunday. Witnesses said an SUV was driving fast westbound on Tudor Road. The vehicle approached the overpass at the Seward Highway but was unable to make the turn to go northbound onto the highway.
The vehicle launched over the north side of the overpass, hit multiple guardrails, and landed on the far right-hand lane of the southbound lanes of the Seward Highway, according to an online police dispatch.
The driver was the only person in the car. She was declared dead at the scene.
As of 9 p.m. Sunday, all southbound lanes of the Seward Highway were shut down at Tudor and all southbound traffic was being routed to exit the highway at Tudor Road.
