Lebanon, TN : One dead in Sparta Pike wreck on Tuesday, 10th April 2018
Denise Legnini, 66, of Watertown, died after a head-on crash Tuesday at about 10:36 a.m. in the 4200 block of Sparta Pike between Young Road and Trammel Lane.
According to Wilson Emergency Management Agency director Joey Cooper, the crash involved two vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle was James D. Fulghum, 72, of Lebanon, and a 3-year-old child was a passenger. Both were injured in the wreck.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Lt. Travis Plotzer, Legnini tried to pass a commercial motor vehicle and hit Fulghum’s vehicle head-on. Legnini’s car came to a stop off the road, while Fulghum’s car stopped on the roadway.
The road was closed between Trammel Lane and Young Road while responders tended to those injured and worked to clear debris.
A LifeFlight helicopter was called to the scene, as well. First responders with the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department, WEMA, Wilson County sheriff’s deputies and Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene.
The road reopened at about 1 p.m. Detours were set up, and deputies directed traffic to Cainsville Road via Trammel Lane to the south and via Maddox Simpson Parkway to the north.
