SHELBURNE, MA : 3-car crash in Shelburne sends 3 to hospital on Tuesday, December, 5th 2017
Three people were taken to the hospital after a three-car accident Tuesday afternoon on Route 2 near the Mobil gas station.
Just past 3:20 p.m., two ambulances drove past a long string of cars backed up past Clark’s Corvair Parts Inc. toward Greenfield. A Subaru wagon, with damage to its back end, could be seen on the gas station side of Route 2.
Across the street in a ditch two other cars, another Subaru wagon and an Oldsmobile sedan, rested against each other. Both had heavy front end damage.
“Three vehicles involved. Four people; sent three to the hospital. Nothing appears to be life threatening, but you never know,” said Shelburne Center Deputy Fire Chief Jim Burnham, as a half-dozen other firefighters swept up debris. Behind him, several tow trucks transported the damaged cars away.
Emergency crews — including State Police, Shelburne Police, Shelburne Fire Department, Shelburne Falls Fire Department, Colrain EMS, and MedCare Ambulance — shut down one lane of Route 2 for about 45 minutes.
