Milwaukee County, WI : Bicyclist killed in a pickup truck crash on Friday March 4 2016
A bicyclist who was killed in a weekend crash in Milwaukee has been identified as Robert C. Wiske.
Wiske, 48, was bicycling west on W. Hampton Ave. about 8:30 p.m. Friday when he rode into traffic as he tried to go around a parked vehicle. He was hit by a pickup truck also heading west on Hampton Ave., according to the Milwaukee County medical examiner's office.
The pickup was driving about 30 mph at the time of the accident, and the 47-year-old driver remained at the crash and cooperated with Milwaukee police. The crash occurred in the 6500 block of W. Hampton Ave.
The medical examiner's reports indicate alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. Wiske smelled of alcohol, had a can of beer in his pocket and has prior arrests for drunken driving, the reports stated.
Milwaukee police say the case will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County district attorney's office in the coming weeks.
